Ballistic steel is used in buildings, military vehicles, special vehicles, aircraft, and vessels for protection against firearms, impact, blast etc. A common drawback in this system is when a projectile strikes ballistic steel. The impact can cause spalling of deadly tiny shrapnel that can cause catastrophic injury or death. Protection from fragmentation and survivability of personnel is therefore a critical feature in the design of any bulletproof or ballistic protection system.
The LINE-X PAXCON solution is designed as an impact mitigation coating layer of protection from projectiles. This impact mitigation coating layer slows the velocity of projectile(s) by absorbing the impact and mitigate the spalling effect when the projectile strikes the armor plate. The effect of impact and fragmentation is significantly reduced and the potential damage or harm to personnel is drastically mitigated. The projectile or bullet will remain entrapped in the LINE-X coating eliminating potential injury or critical damage.
The LINE-X PAXCON solution can also be used as a protective coating for armored plates worn inside ballistic vests, applied on armor plates on battleships, tactical vehicles, ground support equipment, helicopters or around machine gun mounts used on HMMWVs (High-Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles) and other forward operating assets. The effectiveness of these solutions are well proven in service and combat zones worldwide.
Applications
LINE-X PAXCON can be applied as a layer of protection over any substrate hard enough to cause a projectile to spall or deteriorate including:
- STEEL
- CERAMIC
- ALUMINUM
LINE-X PAXCON can also be applied as a layer of protection to the following materials against moisture, water penetration etc.
- KEVLAR
- DYNEEMA
- SPECTRAL
Protection in action
The following Test by H.P. White Laboratory Inc., is a demonstration of what happens to un-coated and LINE-X coated ballistic plate when fired upon.
The LINE-X PAXCON solution is approved for anti spalling protection by MRAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected) vehicle manufacturers under the US Pentagon’s top military Personnel Protection Initiative.
