Repair and Maintenance of EMI Shielding and Faraday Cages

We advise you to carry out a field strength measurement after several years to see if the shielding performance of your screened room / Faraday cage still meets the requirements.

Faraday cages and EMI screened rooms can malfunction after a long period of time. Whether it is a prefabricated Faraday cage or a Mu-copper Faraday cage.

Think for example damage of the EMI shielding foil in Faraday cages, accidental penetration of the Faraday cage wall, aging of Faraday cage door gaskets or loss of resilience with rubber gaskets or BeCu fingerstrips.

We therefore advise you to carry out a field strength measurement after several years of use of your Faraday cage as maintenance to see if the shielding performance of your EMI screened room / Faraday cage still meets the requirements. We recommend this, so that you can continue to use the Faraday cage with the attenuation levels as they were in the first instance and to prevent failure and problems with the equipment in your Faraday cage.

What if the shield is no longer sufficient?

We offer a variety of EMI shielding tapes and foil, (including plated fabrics and metal foil tapes), electrically conductive adhesives, electrically conductive coatings, Rubber EMI gaskets and BeCu fingerstrips.

The above products are generally used for the repair of broken EMI shieldings. For example with mu-copper tape, it is possible to repair damage in a Mu-copper Faraday cage. Of course it depends on what the attenuation of the Faraday cage is. In other cases, it may be necessary to provide a new EMI shielding coating or glue.

The best course of action when you discover damage is to contact us. If possible you can e-mail pictures of the damage and send specifications of the Faraday cage / EMI screened room such as the attenuation level and the dimensions.
