How to EMI Shield Transparent Displays and Windows

How to EMI shield transparent displays & windows

The job of EMI shielding windows and displays is to work miracles without being seen. That is exactly what our transparent shielding solutions do. We guarantee you both the shielding performance and light transmission you require.

When an LCD screen, window or display window has to be shielded for EMI (electromagnetic interference), transparent shielding foils, films and windows are the ideal solution. We offers transparent EMI window-shielding films and foils that can be supplied with adhesive for easy installation on existing screens & windows. We also produce turnkey screened windows that can be installed directly into an MRI room, an LCD display in medical devices, a Faraday cage or an EMI shielded electronic housing/enclosure.

One of our unique products is our 9000 – 9300 series Mesh foil which has a very fine cast-in metal mesh. This enables efficient production of thin and very small display windows. They can be as thin as 1.5 millimetres and can be manufactured in every conceivable shape or size. The embedded mesh provides excellent light transmission and incredibly flexible design options for the end product.

Below you will see some examples of applications with integrated EMI shielding display windows.

Applications

Defence

Due to safety issues EMI-shielding display windows are standard in defence applications with i.e. TEMPEST or MIL requirements.

Medical

EMI shielding display windows are often applied in medical applications in order to avoid electromagnetic noise affecting the sensitive devices.

Public & Finance

To secure data protection some displays and monitors used by public authorities, finance corporations etc. apply EMI-shielding display windows.

Test & measurement

Some types of test and measurement equipment require EMI-shielding display windows in order to obtain precise and reliable data.

Keep in mind

  • Materials with higher shielding performance will generally be less transparent.
  • Do not make windows in your application any larger than necessary. The larger the window, the more difficult it is to achieve electromagnetic shielding.
